Barnsley chops are a double sided chop taken from the middle of the loin. They are believed by many to have originated at the Brooklands Hotel in Barnsley where they are still served today. The lamb we use for them is are free range, heather fed from the fells of Bowland in Lancashire. The gorse and heather lambs feed on gives the meat a delicious flavour. This cut makes a hearty meal and is ideal for barbecuing or grilling for best results serve pink and allow to rest then serve with chosen accompaniments.

The origins of the Barnsley Chop comes from the time King George V opened the magnificent Barnsley town hall (1933). Abert Hirst butchers (sadly no longer) commemorated the event by offering his majesty with this superb cut of meat.
