Study reconfirms role of meat in healthy diet

A new study has revealed that millions of people could be putting their health at risk by not consuming enough of the vital vitamins and minerals they need; many of which are commonly found in red meat. Red meat is defined as beef, pork, lamb and the meat of other mammals. Grass fed beef in particular is considered to be a very rich source of the protein and nutrients we need for a healthy diet.

Meat has been a huge part of the human diet ever since the beginning of mankind, highlighting the fact that it has always been crucial for survival. In recent years, the discussion has gone back and forth as to whether too much red meat is good or bad for you, with scientists trying to gain a solid conclusion on what the role of meat in the diet is.

The recent study found that a worryingly large number people in the UK were found to be low in the crucial nutrients found in meat. There is evidence that meats such as grass fed beef could play a crucial role in sustaining cognitive functions and reducing certain deficiencies.

Research shows that the good fatty acids found in grass fed meats provide significant support in the development of babies as well as reducing the risk of dementia in later life. While there is evidence to suggest red meats are crucial to the human diet, other factors need to be taken into account, such as the amount of meat eaten and where it is being sourced from in order to determine a healthy diet.
