Father unveils safety barbecue

As many Brits across the country get out their grills during the hottest summer for years, throwing on a variety of BBQ meats and grass fed beef, one father has taken it to the next level.

John Tomalin-Reeves has designed the Halo Cooltouch, a sleek charcoal barbecue that stays piping hot on the inside but cool to the touch on the outside, a feature that will no doubt appeal to many parents.

The 43-year-old designer took on the traditional barbecue design and made it safer when he realised how dangerous cooking outside could be with very young children running around. When the brainwave came about six years ago, his daughters were toddlers and he was worried about them getting hurt.

Government statistics have shown that 19 people were admitted to hospital after barbecue-related incidents last year. Since many people look to make the most of the summer with their garden grill gatherings, it was not ideal to simply cut them out altogether. It is hoped, however, that Tomalin-Reeves’ idea will provide a handy solution to the issue.

The Halo Cooltouch has an impressive finish and a triple-layered aluminium body, so it is lightweight as well as safe. Due to his innovation, Tomalin-Reeves has been dubbed by many as ‘the Dyson of the barbecue’. It is said to also minimise heat loss because of the added insulation for the cool exterior, so people can rest easy knowing they will have a great place to grill their BBQ meat packs and not worry about safety hazards.
