Creating the perfect roast beef

There is nothing better than a well cooked meal and, according to many top chefs, there are only two things you need to make one: the right ingredients and the right method. In the case of creating the perfect roast beef, the right ingredients in particular are crucial.

When purchasing the beef, it is important to find the healthiest type, and also the one that will be the tastiest. Grass fed beefs are perfect for roasting, as they provide all of the most important nutrients and create great flavours.

The first step is to prepare the beef once it has been purchased. At least 30 minutes before it is due to be put in the oven, take it out of the fridge, pre-heat the oven to 240°C and start preparing the vegetables. Once this is done, put all of them into a roasting tray and place the seasoned beef on top.

When it is time to put the beef in the oven, turn the heat down straight away to prevent overcooking. The right time to leave it in the oven varies depending on the desired level of cooking. An hour will cook it to a medium level, so go for about 10 minutes either side of an hour for medium rare or well done.

Once the meat is cooked, take it out and leave it for around 15 minutes or more. Preferably, cover it with tin foil while other preparations are being made. Once everything is sorted, serve and enjoy a meal in the style of Jamie Oliver.
